Course Content
Basic concepts of macroeconomics. The short run: the goods market, the financial markets and the economic policy. The medium run: the labour market, inflation and unemployment. The open economy: the exchange rate, goods and financial markets in the open economy, exchange rate regimes. Economic policy in Europe: basic concepts of monetary and fiscal policies for the European Union members states.

I part
National accounting and main macroeconomic variables. Economy in the short-run: the goods and the financial markets. Fiscal and monetary policies and their short-run effects. The labour market: unemployment and wages. The Phillips curve.
II part
The economy in the medium run: putting all markets together. The open economy: the balance of payment and international trade. The exchange rate and the goods and financial markets. The European economic and monetary Union.
III part
Pathologies: depressions and slumps, hyperinflation, high public debt. Back to economic policies.
