Course Content
The course focuses on the social changes and transformation of European contemporary societies. The topics analysed are: social inequality, the labour market, social models, the connections between society, economcs and politics. Particular attention is given to the concepts of social citizenship as related to the challenges of multiculturalism and the process of individualization.

Course program
The objective of the first part of the course is to analyze of social change in contemporary societies in a comparative perspective, in particular European society in light of the process of supranational integration. The main topics are: Module I: the analysis of social change and social inequalities, different social models, the knowledge society. Module II: the European social complex, the relationship between civil society and political institutions, migration, multiculturalism and social citizenship as well as changes in values and social practices related to the process of individualization.
